Coral World Ocean Park in St. Thomas offers a fun experience of life under and above the Caribbean Sea. You can swim with sea lions or sharks, helmet dive and power snorkel or merely observe in the undersea tower. Coral World Ocean Park is located next to Coki Beach on the northeast shore of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. This attraction is a fun-filled day for the entire family.
Coral World Ocean Park Exhibits
Caribbean Reef Encounter – Walk into a circular 80,000 gallon coral reef aquarium and see local corals, sponges, tropical fish, conchs and stingrays. Check the daily schedule for reef encounter feeding times.
Undersea Observatory Tower – Descend fifteen feet beneath the sea and enjoy spectacular views of a natural coral reef. Watch as hundreds of fish swarm the diver during the twice daily feedings.
Shark Shallows – View a variety of juvenile sharks from above and below through a large underwater window. A shark talk and feeding is held twice daily.
Stingray Lagoon – Watch as stingrays fly through the water and slap their wings against the lagoon wall. Feel the silkiness of a stingray’s skin under the careful watch of a marine guide.
Turtle Pool – Get up close and personal with one-hundred pound green sea turtles and learn about their nesting and eating habits during a turtle talk held daily.
Lorikeet Garden- Walk through the Lorikeet cage as sixteen Australian rainbow lorikeets and one blue streak lorikeet fly by. You can purchase a cup of nectar and have these colourful birds eat out of your hand.
Iguana Alley – Spot wild iguanas as they try to camouflage themselves resting among branches, plants and rocks. Iguana feedings occur daily.
Coral World Ocean Park Activities
Sea Lion swim – Join four male sea lions in the water for fun and interaction. Touch, pet and play games and get a big wet kiss from these agile creatures.
Sea Trek Helmet Diving – Take a guided walk on the ocean floor surrounded by sea life as you breathe normally inside an air-controlled helmet. A guide will lead you through coral reefs and pick up sea creatures for you to touch.
SNUBA – Swim with a snorkel mask connected to an air supply source. It’s like scuba diving but without all the heavy equipment.
Power Snorkel – Put some speed and ease to your snorkeling with a motorized handheld unit.
Shark Encounter – Learn about the ocean’s top predator and enter the shark tank where sharks circle around you.
Directions to Coral World Ocean Park in St. Thomas
By Taxi – This is the easiest way to get to Coral World. Taxis are in ample supply at the cruise ship docks, hotels and downtown shopping area of Charlotte Amalie. The taxi ride from downtown and the cruise ships docks is 20 -25 minutes and costs approximately $10.
By Bus – Public transportation is generally unreliable. If you decide to take the bus, from downtown take the Red Hook bus and tell the driver you are going to Coral World. The nearest bus stop to the park is a ten minute walk.
Coral World Ocean Park Hours and Prices
Coral World is open daily from 9 am – 5 pm. The ticket booth closes one hour prior to the park closing time.
General Park Admission is $19 for adults and $10 for children. General admission includes all the exhibits and feeding shows. An extra charge is required for the activities.
